We're excited to share some amazing news about three of our Northeast ECHS students—Ricardo, Paulo, and Behzad—who recently completed the AustinCorp Internship with the City of Austin.
On Monday, we attended the end-of-year celebration at City Hall, where the interns had the opportunity to meet the Mayor and showcase their work. They represented themselves, their families, and our school community with pride and professionalism.
-
Behzad (Housing and Planning) was selected to present his final project. For those who know him, this was a huge moment—he’s a tech-savvy introvert who stepped out of his comfort zone and delivered a confident, well-prepared presentation.
-
Ricardo’s supervisors (City Hall Media) were thoroughly impressed by his curiosity and eagerness to learn. His mother, sister, and grandfather were there to cheer him on, proud of his determination to create a better future. Ricardo has the drive to become the first in his family to attend college or create lasting generational impact.

Paulo (Austin Public Library) collaborated with an intern from Akins High School on a presentation for the Austin Public Library. A fun highlight—they interviewed our former librarian, Mrs. Stirrat, now working at the Central Library. The Library Director loved their presentation so much that Paulo and the team were invited back to serve as youth advisors, helping engage more teens with the library’s services.
These young men are the product of hard work, resilience, and the support of many caring educators. Thank you all for the roles you’ve played in helping them grow into the leaders they’re becoming. They are an incredible representation of the heart and spirit of Northeast ECHS.
Let’s continue to cheer them on as they take these next steps!
