Understanding Austin ISD Board Policy
Our Board Policy Manual is the roadmap for how our district operates. To make it easier to navigate, policies are organized by topic and divided into two helpful categories:

Legal Framework: These provide the legal context from the state and federal levels that guide our local decisions.

Local Policy: These are policies adopted by our Board to reflect the unique priorities, values, and practices of the Austin community.
Pro-Tip: If you see a "Legal" and "Local" policy with the same code, read them together! This gives you the full picture of the rules and the reasoning behind them.
